Bike or motorised engine parking falls under personal responsibility. Dr. J. From the bridge you will see, on your left, the advertising column in front of the cabinet, at a +- 150m distance (photo).
Note that the dark red trail (photo) alongside the main road/steenweg Leuven – Mechelen ( = ‘Omleiding’ = ‘bypass’) in the direction of the cabinet is a biking, not a hiking trail.
Follow Wilselsesteenweg till Sint-Jozefsdreef on your left, then follow Sint-Jozefsdreef and take the third on your left : Betlehemweg. Follow Betlehemweg till the end of the street. Continue left smoothly uphill to the public parking space beside the building (photo). 2. Hélécine
Rue du Moulin 1, 1357 Hélécine
For those who may prefer for reasons of time, place, parking problems or traffic jams, it may be possible to arrange for consultations to be held in the private home of dr. De Vogelaer, M.D. : rue du Moulin 1, 1357 Hélécine (exit 26 on the E40 motorway in the direction of Liège, 30 minutes drive from the centre of Leuven and 15 minutes from the bifurcation E40-A314 at Bertem).
The cabinet is situated at a roundabout where parking is not possible. Therefore, please park your car before or
after having passed the cabinet, for example on the free parking spaces alongside the Provincial Domain/Hélécine
Castle in the direction of Tienen, at 100-300 meters from the cabinet.
You will reach the cabinet waiting room after a few minutes' walk, having crossed the river “la Petite Gette” and
passed the Opheylissem school.
You can take a walk in the Provincial Domain/Hélécine Castle before or after your appointment; the Domain is freely accessible from sunrise till sunset, except during bad weather.
Consult your GPS: Rue du Moulin 1, 1357 Hélécine (sometimes indicated as Opheylissem; hamlet of Hampteau)
= main road N64 halfway between Tienen and Hannut; please note: speed cameras in both directions !
Coming from Tienen, the cabinet is situated 300m past the Provincial Domain/Hélécine Castle, 100m past the
bridge over the river “la Petite Gette”, 50m past the Opheylissem school; park on the free parking spaces alongside
the Provincial Domain/Hélécine Castle in the direction of Tienen.
After just a few minutes' walk, you will arrive in the cabinet’s waiting room.
= from Brussels/Bertem: take exit 26 on the E40 Brussels towards Liège, 15 minutes after the E40-A314 junction in
Bertem
= from Liège: take exit 27 Lincent-Hannut on the E40 Liège towards Brussels
Coming from North or East Limburg, you may consider taking the E40 from Liège.
Coming from Antwerpen, the Kempen, or North or West Limburg, you may consider driving from the E313-E314
interchange in Lummen towards Bekkevoort, the Tienen ring road, and then Hélécine.
Coming from the centre of Limburg, you may consider driving in the direction of Sint-Truiden, then Hélécine.
Public transport : limited.
You can take the train to Tienen, and then bus 339 Tienen-Hannut, which stops in both directions in front of the
Opheylissem school, at 50m from the cabinet.
Bus 339 Tienen-Hannut : consult De Lijn and TEC; the number of bus services per day is limited. In this case, your
appointment needs to be scheduled for the early afternoon so that you can arrive and depart on time.
There is an even more limited number of local trains that stop at the village station of Goetsenhoven, on the
Tienen-Landen line. Please bear in mind that in this case, a substantial one-way walk of approximately one and a
half hours to the cabinet awaits you, making it even more difficult to schedule your appointment : therefore, this
option is not recommended.
